
‘Peace Ambassador to India’ Marshah said that there are many benefits to being optimistic. She pointed out that a recent study has claimed that being optimistic can make your life longer. According to the study, optimistic people are more likely to live up to 90 years of age. She further explained that the findings of the study have been published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. Marshah was speaking as the chief guest at a webinar organized by Film India Communications under the ‘Women Achievers Program’. Addressing the webinar, she said that Harvard University researchers claim that optimistic women live an average of 54 percent longer than pessimistic women. Simply put, the age of such women increases by about 4 years. Also, such women have a 10% higher chance of surviving to 90 years.
She described the role of optimism in creating longevity. She added that Dr. Hayami Koga, a Harvard University professor and lead author of the study, and his team focused on factors that increase people’s risk of diseases and premature death. Optimism plays an important role in promoting longevity and healthy life for people of different age groups. Marshah said that according to Dr. Hayami Koga, the health data of 160,000 women were analyzed during the study. It found that women who were optimistic had a 25% increase in their lifespan.
